CCTV footage has surfaced in connection with a triple fatality in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in which an State Bank of India (SBI) field officer allegedly shot dead his wife outside her workplace, returned home and fatally shot his sister before dying by suicide — all within the span of a single afternoon on Thursday, 21 August 2025. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Gomti Nagar police station.

What the CCTV footage shows

Three separate CCTV clips have emerged in connection with the incident. One clip shows the victim, Divya Mishra, 33, an assistant manager and relationship manager at ICICI Bank, getting into a car as she left for work. A second clip, reportedly recorded outside the ICICI Bank branch, captures the confrontation between Divya and the accused, her husband Manas Bajpai, 35.

The footage allegedly shows Manas striking Divya with the butt of a firearm before opening fire on her. Divya sustained gunshot injuries and later died. A third clip purportedly shows bank security personnel and a colleague rushing to her aid; Manas allegedly pointed the firearm at those who attempted to intervene before fleeing the scene.

Sequence of events at the residence

After the shooting, Manas allegedly drove approximately two kilometres to his home in Husadiya. Eyewitness accounts describe him as visibly distressed and drenched in sweat on arrival. According to police sources, he locked himself in a room, played the Hanuman Chalisa loudly on the television, then allegedly shot his sister, Sheeba, before turning the weapon on himself. Neighbours who heard two gunshots broke open the door and found the bodies of Manas and Sheeba inside the room.

Background to the marriage and alleged motive

Divya and Manas had married in 2018 in an arranged marriage and did not have children. According to information that emerged during the investigation, Divya had filed for divorce approximately a year before the incident and had subsequently moved to her parents' home in Shringar Nagar, Alambagh. Police have also recovered information suggesting that Manas posted a WhatsApp status after shooting Divya, in which he accused her of betrayal and stated his intent to kill himself and his sister. The message reportedly referenced Divya's sister, Pragya Mishra — a YouTuber — and her husband, Bharat Yadav.

Sister's condition and investigative angle

According to preliminary information, Sheeba was undergoing treatment for a mental health condition at the time of her death. Police are investigating whether concerns over her future care were among the factors that influenced Manas's actions, though no formal conclusion has been drawn. Senior police officials reached both locations — the bank branch and the Husadiya residence — and launched a full investigation.

Investigation status

The Gomti Nagar police have registered cases and are examining the recovered CCTV footage, the WhatsApp status, and eyewitness accounts. Divya, who was also the sister of YouTuber Pragya Mishra, was 33 years old at the time of her death. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet issued a final statement on motive.
