Jaipur, April 9 (NationPress) The Union government has responded decisively to the drinking water crisis in Rajasthan, prompted by former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s pointed remarks.

The Centre has formally requested a prompt and comprehensive report from the Rajasthan government. Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil shared on social media, “We have taken former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s concerns regarding the water crisis in Jhalawar very seriously. A factual report has been requested from the state government.”

Recently, Vasundhara Raje toured several locations in Jhalawar district, where she criticized officials for their handling of the ongoing water crisis.

During her visit to Raipur town, she expressed her frustration over the lack of action, stating: “Do the citizens not feel thirsty? Only the officials do? People are suffering due to the drinking water issue in this extreme heat, while the authorities remain apathetic. Water should be accessible to the public, rather than just being a matter of paperwork. The officials are complacent, and the people are in distress. I will not allow this to persist.”

In response, Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully remarked on social media, “If even a former Chief Minister feels powerless, what must be the reality for the average citizen?”

Vasundhara Raje further called for transparency in the execution of the Jal Jeevan Mission.

“The Prime Minister has allocated Rs 42,000 crore for the Jal Jeevan Mission. We need a clear report on how much of Jhalawar’s allocation has been utilized, and for what purposes? Our government is dedicated to tackling the water crisis, but the execution on the ground is inadequate. The citizens of Rajasthan are still enduring hardships. If this is the case in April, what will it be like in June and July?” she questioned.

Deepak Jha, Superintending Engineer (SE) at PHED Project, acknowledged the situation, stating that substantial work has been accomplished in the district, and efforts are ongoing to rectify any deficiencies.

“Most of the work is nearing completion, though tenders for the Parwan Akavad project are still pending,” he noted.

However, visibly frustrated, the former Chief Minister cautioned, “Do not test the patience of the populace.”
