Amaravati, Aug 12 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the approval of the ASIP Technologies–APACT (South Korea) semiconductor facility in the state.
“With an impressive capacity of 96 million units per year for advanced chip packaging targeted at mobile devices, set-top boxes, automotive ECUs, and consumer electronics, this initiative will significantly strengthen India’s backend semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and cultivate a comprehensive electronics ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh,” tweeted Chandrababu Naidu on the social media platform ‘X’.
“The arrival of semiconductor manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh is propelled by a double engine government,” remarked Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Information Technology.
He showed appreciation to the Prime Minister for greenlighting a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh as part of a substantial Rs. 4,600 crore financial plan. Advanced System in Package Technologies (ASIP) will collaborate with APACT Co., Ltd from South Korea to achieve an annual production capacity of 96 million units, he added.
These chips will be utilized in mobile phones, set-top boxes, cars, and various advanced electronic applications, further contributing to the goal of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, he noted.
The Union Cabinet recently resolved to establish new semiconductor manufacturing units under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). These facilities will be situated in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Punjab, with a total investment nearing Rs 4,600 crore.
Two of these semiconductor units are planned for Bhubaneswar.
The investment for the semiconductor unit in Andhra Pradesh is set at Rs 468 crore, boasting a capacity of 96 million units annually.
These facilities are projected to generate employment for 2,034 skilled workers, thereby energizing the electronic manufacturing ecosystem and leading to the creation of numerous indirect job opportunities.
Currently, the total approved projects under the ISM stand at ten, with cumulative investments of approximately Rs 1.60 lakh crores across six states.
Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, praised the Union Cabinet’s endorsement of four new semiconductor manufacturing units.
He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-sufficient ecosystem is becoming a reality.
