Amaravati, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday for approving Rs 608.08 crore in aid for the state under flood and disaster relief.

Naidu, whose party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), plays a significant role in the BJP-led NDA government at the national level, took to X to extend his gratitude to both leaders on behalf of the citizens of Andhra Pradesh.

Out of a total allocation of Rs 1554.99 crore designated for various states for disaster and flood relief, Andhra Pradesh received Rs 608.08 crore.

The High-Level Committee (HLC), chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sanctioned Rs 1554.99 crore in additional Central assistance through the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to five states impacted by recent natural calamities such as floods, landslides, and cyclonic storms.

The HLC's approval for Rs 1554.99 crore in central assistance is contingent upon adjusting 50 percent of the available opening balance for the year in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). For Andhra Pradesh, Rs 608.08 crore is allocated, along with Rs 170.99 crore for Nagaland, Rs 255.24 crore for Odisha, Rs 231.75 crore for Telangana, and Rs 288.93 crore for Tripura.

As per an official statement, this additional funding is in addition to the resources already disbursed to the states from the SDRF.

In the financial year 2024-25, the Central Government allocated Rs 18,322.80 crore to 27 states from SDRF, Rs 4,808.30 crore from NDRF to 18 states, Rs 2208.55 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 14 states, and Rs 719.72 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to eight states.

Immediately following the disasters, the Central Government dispatched Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) to assist these states.
