Rajeev Chandrasekhar Critiques Congress and CPI(M) in Kerala Election
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the President of BJP in Kerala, criticized the Congress and CPI(M) on Thursday, asserting that both parties lack the capability to foster development in the state.
While casting his vote in Thiruvananthapuram, Chandrasekhar expressed confidence in the BJP-led NDA's future, downplaying speculative political discussions.
“The discussions are premature. We aim to secure a clear mandate. Our goal is to achieve a majority independently and govern effectively to instigate change and development,” he told IANS.
In a direct political jab, he stated, “We believe that merely discussing change or development doesn't lead to tangible results. Furthermore, we are convinced that neither the CPI(M) nor the Congress can facilitate any real development in our state, as corruption drives their motives.”
He highlighted that genuine governance and public welfare would only be achievable under the leadership of the BJP-NDA. “For the populace to benefit from their political representatives, the BJP and NDA must be in power,” he remarked.
Chandrasekhar also shared his appreciation for party workers, mentioning a call he received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I’m incredibly pleased. It’s a joyous day. Just before I arrived, our Prime Minister reached out to express gratitude to the party workers for their dedication and wished the party and NDA success,” he said.
After 23 days of vigorous campaigning and a significant silent initiative, Kerala entered decision day on Thursday, with approximately 2.71 crore voters set to decide the state's governance.
Before dawn, the electoral process was underway. By 5:30 a.m., the state’s 30,471 polling booths were operational, with officials beginning necessary mock polling procedures.
Once the mock polling was concluded and the EVMs secured, a brief period of calm ensued before the actual voting commenced.
By 6:30 a.m., lines began to form across the state.
In Chooralmala, Wayanad, an area still recovering from a tragic landslide that resulted in over 200 casualties, the act of voting held profound emotional significance.
Some voters, visibly touched, reminisced about family members who had joined them in 2021 but were absent this time.
The polling process, which started at 7 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m., encompasses all 140 constituencies.
