Bhopal, April 21 (NationPress) In a troubling incident of misconduct at the Chhatarpur District Hospital, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Mishra and Red Cross employee Raghavendra Khare have been dismissed from their positions due to their roles in assaulting and forcibly removing an elderly man from the hospital.

Their behavior, recorded in a viral video on April 17, has sparked widespread outrage, prompting immediate disciplinary actions.

Dr. Mishra, an orthopaedic surgeon, was working under the National Health Mission on a contractual basis, while Raghavendra Khare was an employee of the Indian Red Cross Society in Chhatarpur. The incident involved a 77-year-old man, Udhavlal Joshi, who was in line with his wife, a patient.

A conflict reportedly occurred when Joshi questioned Dr. Mishra regarding his late arrival, leading to the violent incident.

An FIR has been lodged against both individuals at the Kotwali police station on Sunday.

The Civil Surgeon of the hospital, Dr. G.L. Ahirwar, has also faced suspension for failing to properly handle the situation.

Dr. Mishra, the orthopaedic surgeon, was seen in the viral footage participating in this misconduct.

This video prompted District Collector Parth Jaiswal to call for stringent disciplinary actions against Dr. Mishra.

Earlier, Collector Jaiswal had issued a notice to Dr. Ahirwar, instructing him to investigate the occurrence. However, due to Dr. Ahirwar's lack of action, he received a show-cause notice and was subsequently suspended after his justification was considered “unsatisfactory”.

The Collector highlighted that the video provided undeniable evidence of Dr. Mishra's physical assault and forceful removal of Joshi from the hospital.

Mission Director Dr. Saloni Sidana also issued a notice to Dr. Mishra, requiring a response within 24 hours and warning of termination for such grave misconduct.

Dr. Mishra's reply was deemed “unsatisfactory” and led to his dismissal.

Meanwhile, the Chhatarpur Police have filed cases against both Mishra and Khare under Sections 115(2), 296(3)(5), and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita. Reports indicate that doctors at the hospital protested the termination of Dr. Mishra and suspension of Dr. Ahirwar by wearing black bands while on duty.
