Bhopal, April 20 (NationPress) A shocking video has surfaced, depicting a doctor and staff members at Chhatarpur District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh, violently assaulting and dragging an elderly man over 70 years old.
This incident, reportedly filmed on April 17, gained significant traction across multiple media platforms on Sunday. The footage seemingly shows the doctor striking the elderly man, followed by him and the staff forcefully dragging the victim and allegedly threatening to detain him in the hospital’s police post.
According to a senior police official speaking to IANS, an investigation is currently in progress. The doctor is set to be “interrogated, and a formal police complaint (FIR) will be lodged.”
“Initial findings and the viral video suggest that the individual, known as Uddhavlal (around 70 years old), was the victim of the assault. Furthermore, the doctor has submitted his own complaint to the local police,” the official disclosed.
Uddhavlal stated to the media that he was at the hospital seeking treatment for a stomach nerve issue when the doctor slapped him near his ear, mistreated him, and dragged him towards the hospital’s police post in broad daylight.
This altercation reportedly ensued after a dispute with the doctor.
Moreover, the patient elaborated that while he was queuing for treatment, the doctor confronted him about the crowd, questioned his presence in line, and subsequently attacked him.
The event has sparked widespread attention, prompting discussions about patient rights and hospital conduct.
In a political twist, Jitu Patwari, President of the Congress State Unit in Madhya Pradesh, posted the video on social media.
In his post, he claimed that the patient was not only assaulted and dragged but also ejected from the hospital by the doctors and staff.
Patwari remarked that the elderly man’s only crime was seeking prompt medical attention for his wife, who is reportedly suffering from a stomach vein ailment.
“A 75-year-old man was not only assaulted by the doctors and staff at Chhatarpur District Hospital, but he was also brutally dragged and thrown out of the facility! The only mistake of the old man who came for his wife's treatment was pleading for expedited care as he couldn’t stand in the lengthy queue!”
In his post directed at the state chief minister, he stated, “A government that cannot respect the elderly should feel ashamed! A government that fails to provide health security should be ousted from power!”
