Damoh (MP), June 5 (NationPress) In a heartbreaking event, a 30-year-old patient at a government-operated district hospital reportedly leaped from the building, resulting in his death while undergoing treatment in Madhya Pradesh, authorities revealed on Thursday.
This incident took place late on Wednesday night in Damoh district, located approximately 450 km from Bhopal.
The individual has been identified as Shubham Ahirwar, hailing from Emlayi village in Damoh.
According to law enforcement, Shubham was admitted to the hospital by his family after experiencing stomach pain a few days prior.
Following a slight improvement in his condition, he was moved to the general ward.
On Wednesday night, he abruptly got up from his bed and began causing a disturbance in the ward.
He dashed towards the nursing station and grabbed a pair of scissors.
Then, he ran wildly around the ward, brandishing the scissors, which caused panic among the other patients and staff.
Security personnel and some attendants attempted to restrain him, but he was too agitated.
After approximately 30 minutes of chaos, Shubham exited the ward, sprinted to a balcony, and jumped from the second floor.
The security team managed to bring him back inside for urgent care, but tragically, he did not survive his injuries.
The act of jumping was recorded by the hospital's CCTV cameras.
"He was taken to the emergency ward for treatment, but unfortunately, he could not withstand the impact of the fall and died shortly after," stated a doctor at the Damoh district hospital.
The hospital administration promptly notified local police about the incident early Thursday.
"He had been admitted to the hospital a few days earlier, and his health was gradually improving. The reasons behind his sudden outburst and tragic decision are currently under investigation by the police," a doctor added.
A police team from city Kotwali has arrived at the scene, and inquiries are in progress.
