Bhopal, April 16 (NationPress) The infamous Mission Hospital in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, faced another blow on Wednesday as the local authorities revoked its license.
The management of the hospital has stated that they have not yet received any official cancellation notice, but they acknowledged that the facility is currently without any patients.
The revocation of the hospital's license was attributed to its inability to renew it by the deadline of March 31, 2025, as reported by a senior government official.
Officials had provided the hospital a three-day period to transfer any remaining patients to the district hospital.
Pushpa Khare, the manager of the hospital, clarified that they had completed all necessary formalities for the renewal following a prompt from the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Damoh district on April 14.
However, she mentioned that the renewal would only be granted after a thorough inspection.
This significant administrative move comes in the wake of serious allegations against Dr. Narendra Yadav, also known as N John Camm, who purportedly conducted several surgeries that resulted in the deaths of seven patients under dubious circumstances.
It is alleged that the doctor had impersonated a well-known cardiologist.
Investigations led by the CMHO in Damoh disclosed that Dr. Yadav did not possess the necessary qualifications to perform such surgeries.
On April 6, the CMHO lodged a formal complaint with the police, leading to the registration of an FIR (first information report). Following this, additional FIRs were filed against several individuals connected to the hospital under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita.
Numerous operational shortcomings contributed to the hospital's suspension. Critical staff, including lab technicians and a cardiologist, were not appointed, and essential units like the blood bank and Cath Lab were closed due to various issues, disputes, and resignations, as per the government official.
Representatives from the hospital have claimed that the FIR relates to a management committee from 2022, attempting to separate the current administration from past issues.
Meanwhile, the court has extended Dr. Yadav's police remand until April 17, 2025, as investigations continue to reveal his purported “fake medical degrees” and “questionable practices” throughout his 18-year career.
Reports suggest that he conducted 15 heart surgeries, resulting in seven fatalities, as authorities dig deeper into the situation.
