Eight development projects worth ₹2,830.07 lakh came to life in Gadarpur, Udham Singh Nagar on 31 July 2026 — inaugurated and foundation-laid by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at a ceremony held at the newly built Gadarpur Bus Station, amid Vedic chanting and a ribbon-cutting that marked the town's most concentrated infrastructure push in recent memory.

What the ribbon-cutting delivered: three projects now open

Of the total outlay, ₹694.06 lakh covers three completed projects handed over on the day. CM Dhami inaugurated the Vikas Khand Gadarpur Block Development Office building, constructed at ₹275.70 lakh — a facility designed to consolidate government scheme delivery under one roof for rural residents. A community hall, the Harichandra-Guruchandra Bang Vishaal Samudayik Bhawan, built at ₹69.19 lakh, now serves surrounding villages. And the centrepiece: the Gadarpur Bus Station itself, built at ₹349.17 lakh, equipped with a modern waiting hall, kitchen, and essential passenger amenities.

Five foundation stones and the Gularbhoj road that changes the map

The bigger money — ₹2,136.01 lakh — goes into five projects whose foundation stones were laid. The headline is a ₹1,839.70 lakh concrete road to be built by the Irrigation Department, running from Baba Dal Mandir in Gadarpur through Baur Reservoir (Destination) to the Gularbhoj Kulha Tilpuri Van Barrier. This is not merely a road — the CM explicitly positioned Gularbhoj as a future 'major tourism and development destination' that will generate new livelihood opportunities for local residents. Four interlocking-tile road projects in Ramjivanpur No. 3, Mazharshila, Jainagar No. 4 Colony, Gurunanakpur, and the stretch from Kulha Chowk to Laxman Singh Gatti village make up the remaining ₹296.31 lakh of new works.

Education, flood defence, and drinking water: the parallel investments

Dhami used the platform to catalogue broader state spending in the region. A hostel at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential School, a modern auditorium at Rajkiya Inter College Dineshpur, and a girls' hostel at ITI Gularbhoj are already complete. The government has also approved the upgrade of the Ashram Paddhati Kanya Vidyalaya — meaning girls in the area will no longer need to travel far for higher secondary education. Separately, ₹4 crore in flood protection works downstream of Baur Dam and ₹13 crore in drinking water schemes across villages have been executed, the CM said.

The 'Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi' frame — and the political notes

Dhami anchored the event in the state government's governing philosophy: 'Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi' ('Development alongside Heritage'), citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership as the guiding force. The CM also addressed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter-list purification drive, calling it fully transparent and a routine exercise conducted multiple times in the past. He went further, listing what he termed 'historic decisions' — the state's anti-conversion law, action on 'land jihad', an anti-cheating law, and anti-corruption measures — as evidence of governance aligned with public interest. The CM also conveyed Shravan Maas (the holy month of Shravan) greetings to the crowd, invoking Lord Bholenath's blessings for the region's prosperity.

Gadarpur just got a new bus station, five roads under construction, and a government office — the question now is whether Gularbhoj can actually become the tourism anchor the CM is betting on.
