Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed a public gathering at Ramlila Maidan, Danya, Almora, on Sunday, 21 June 2026, inaugurating a newly constructed building at Government College Danya built at a cost of Rs 4.96 crore and announcing a series of infrastructure, education and heritage projects for the Kumaon region.

Addressing the jansabha (public gathering), CM Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is 'setting new milestones of development and prosperity,' and that Uttarakhand is advancing rapidly on the path of progress. The event brought together state and central government representatives, local officials and a large number of residents of the Danya area.

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, also present at the event, said that coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state government are driving holistic development of the state, adding that 'all of us must work together to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country.'

Policy Backdrop

At the gathering, CM Dhami announced multiple projects spanning infrastructure, education and cultural heritage. These include: construction of a grand gateway in Almora named after martyr Bireeshwar Goswami; development of Chamtola sports ground; construction of a mini stadium at Government College Garudabanj; addition of four classrooms at GIC Garudabanj; beautification of Prem Mandir and Radha Krishna Mandir; construction of a motor road from Kachauri on the Kheti Jateshwar Motor Marg to Kaluta polling booth; and upgradation of Government Higher Secondary School Chageth.

The CM also spoke about the state government's ongoing work under the Jageshwar Master Plan, which aims to preserve the original character of Jageshwar Dham — a historic Shiva temple complex in Almora district — while expanding parking capacity and equipping the site with modern amenities. Uttarakhand governments have pursued spiritual-circuit development across the Kedarkhand and Manaskhand corridors since the early 2010s, with temple conservation and pilgrimage infrastructure treated as twin levers of tourism growth.

Students of Government College Danya and surrounding rural areas stand to benefit directly from the new academic building and the additional classrooms at GIC Garudabanj. CM Dhami highlighted that pilgrimage and tourist footfall in the Kedarkhand and Manaskhand circuits has been rising steadily, and that the state is being developed as a global spiritual destination. Following the public event, CM Dhami visited the residence of Pawan Pant, a Danya local, where he attended a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha recitation and expressed his wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the people of the state.
