Mumbai, April 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has instructed the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) to establish a multi-modal transport connectivity system at the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.
He noted that this airport will be the first international airport in India to incorporate such a facility. This statement was made during a review meeting on various projects, including the Navi Mumbai International Airport being developed by CIDCO.
“A multi-modal transport system should connect the metro station to the airport. It is crucial to ensure that citizens do not experience any inconvenience in this regard. The projects managed by CIDCO must be completed within the allocated timeframe. Housing developments should prioritize high-quality construction, with a set timeline for completion. CIDCO is urged to take the lead in providing affordable housing for residents. Additionally, ongoing work on sports facilities in Navi Mumbai should also meet high standards,” stated the Chief Minister.
During the meeting, he also emphasized the timely completion of the Kharghar Valley Golf Course.
“To address future challenges, it is essential to build eco-friendly and thriving cities. Alongside a multi-modal transport system, focus should be on creating job opportunities and maximizing the use of solar energy. CIDCO plays a vital role in developing such cities and must ensure that a multi-modal transport connectivity is established at the Navi Mumbai International Airport. A water taxi service should also be introduced, making this airport the first in India to offer such a facility,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister pointed out the need for a comprehensive general aviation system at the Navi Mumbai International Airport, as international travelers frequently bring planes to Mumbai.
Consequently, it is imperative to provide sufficient parking facilities and develop aircraft repair services at the airport. He added that the works for road, rail, metro, and water transport connectivity to the airport should be executed punctually.
The Chief Minister also instructed that the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) project should progress rapidly, with road widths planned in anticipation of future traffic demands.
Future and ongoing project timelines should be established, making it mandatory to include these timelines in tenders for infrastructure construction.
“With modern technology available, it is unacceptable for any project to be delayed indefinitely. Therefore, the duration of all works must be clearly defined,” he concluded.
