Bhubaneswar, May 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, announced on Friday that the state government is implementing comprehensive measures to protect key installations and locations throughout the state.
Majhi emphasized that the Marine Police of Odisha have been placed on high alert to counter any potential threats arising from the state's extensive coastline.
“We have pinpointed crucial strategic sites, including defence installations at Chandipur, the Jagannath Temple in Puri, the Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur, and the Rourkela Steel Plant, which require vigilant protection. We are actively securing these locations from possible threats, with a particular focus on coastal security along the Bay of Bengal to prevent any encroachment. A high-level meeting was convened today to assess the security situation,” CM Majhi informed IANS.
He also revealed that approximately 80 to 85 students from Odisha are currently in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The state government has directed efforts to ensure their safe return. Our Resident Commissioner is coordinating their journey back to Delhi by bus, followed by a train trip to Odisha. A dedicated helpline has also been established. The Odisha government stands ready to assist any Odia resident requiring support in this matter," said the Chief Minister.
CM Majhi additionally remarked that India has responded decisively to Pakistan through Operation Sindoor.
He asserted that the Pakistani side has struggled to retaliate against the Indian Armed Forces’ actions.
“The strategies we are employing and the courage displayed by our forces indicate that India is poised to triumph in this conflict,” Majhi stated.
Odisha's Revenue Minister, Suresh Pujari, commented to the press on Friday, asserting that the state government is fully prepared for any potential threats from Pakistan.
In light of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, security has been heightened around the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri following a nationwide alert.
A significant number of security personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of both devotees and the temple vicinity.
Moreover, a high-level meeting took place at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) office in Balasore district on Friday afternoon to deliberate on tightening security at sensitive defence installations in Chandipur.
The DIG of Police (Eastern Range), Dr. Satyajit Naik, previously convened an emergency meeting to discuss enhancing security protocols at these installations in Chandipur.
