New Delhi, Nov 12 (NationPress) In a major organisational transformation, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has sanctioned the appointment of nine new All India Congress Committee secretaries and the reassignment of five current ones, effective immediately.

This announcement, detailed in a press release by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, is part of the party's ongoing strategy to bolster state units and enhance coordination in the lead-up to key electoral contests.

The new AICC secretaries include Srinivas B.V. for Gujarat, TN Prathapan for Puducherry and Lakshadweep, Sanjana Jatav for Madhya Pradesh, Sachin Sawant for Telangana, Rehana Rayaz Chisti for Maharashtra, Hina Kaware and Suraj Thakur jointly for Punjab, Jetti Kusum Kumar for Odisha, and Nivedith Alva for Tamil Nadu.

These individuals will collaborate closely with state in-charges and general secretaries to manage party initiatives, campaign tactics, and grassroots efforts.

At the same time, the Congress leadership has reassigned existing secretaries to enhance operational effectiveness.

Usha Naidu, who previously held other roles, has now been moved to Madhya Pradesh.

Bhoopendra Marawi will now oversee Jharkhand, Devendra Yadav is heading to Gujarat, Pargat Singh is reassigned to Jammu and Kashmir, and Manoj Yadav will take charge in Uttarakhand.

These changes indicate a strategic adjustment of leadership roles to tackle regional issues and enhance organizational strength.

The appointments demonstrate the Congress leadership's goal to inject new vigor into state units, especially in areas governed by opposition parties or those critical for electoral success.

With dedicated secretaries in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, both known as BJP strongholds, and dual representation in Punjab to manage internal disputes and prepare for potential early Assembly elections, the focus is clear.

Additionally, the inclusion of youthful and female leaders like Hina Kaware, Sanjana Jatav, and Nivedith Alva highlights the party's commitment to diversity and generational change.

Insiders perceive this reshuffle as a precursor to heightened political engagement in 2026, with Assembly elections anticipated in Tamil Nadu, Assam, and West Bengal.

The transfer of experienced figures like Pargat Singh to Jammu and Kashmir signifies increased attention on the Union Territory following the recent Assembly formation.

Similarly, placing Srinivas B.V. in Gujarat aims to revitalize Congress's fortunes in a state where it has faced challenges against the BJP's stronghold.

The AICC has instructed all newly appointed secretaries to promptly assume their roles, conduct reviews at the district level, and submit action plans within two weeks.

Regular evaluations of performance will be implemented to ensure accountability.

This restructuring follows a similar reset in Uttarakhand earlier on Tuesday, where 27 district presidents were appointed under the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, illustrating a systematic approach to fortifying the party framework from the grassroots to the national level.
