New Delhi, May 24 (NationPress) The Congress party has expressed unwavering support for External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar, who made a compelling statement during his official visit to Germany, emphasizing that India will never submit to nuclear coercion and will continue to address matters with Pakistan through bilateral dialogue.
Jaishankar's declaration garnered rare bipartisan backing, with political leaders across the spectrum praising his resolute diplomatic stance.
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit commended the statement, asserting: “Absolutely correct. We have always maintained this right, and I also anticipate that during our engagements with nations like Germany, we seek their backing against Pakistan too. The state of Pakistan's economy is their own issue. Our stance has always been to foster positive relations with all neighboring countries.”
He emphasized that for the last 30–35 years, Pakistan's promotion of terrorism represents heinous acts, which are crimes against humanity.
“These nations should recognize Pakistan as a rogue state and respond accordingly,” he remarked.
In alignment with this view, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey affirmed that EAM Jaishankar serves as India’s External Affairs Minister and is well-versed in diplomatic relations.
“If he declares in Germany that India will not tolerate terrorism at any cost and will not yield to Pakistan’s persistent nuclear threats, this reflects not only the opposition's stance but also the sentiment of the entire nation and our armed forces,” he stated.
EAM Jaishankar's remarks followed the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and India's decisive response through Operation Sindoor.
During a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, EAM Jaishankar stated: “I arrive in Berlin right after India has responded to the Pahalgam terror attack. India maintains zero tolerance for terrorism. India will never capitulate to nuclear blackmail, and India will manage relations with Pakistan strictly on a bilateral basis. There should be no ambiguity in this regard. We also appreciate Germany’s acknowledgment that every nation has the right to defend itself against terrorism.”
Germany has similarly expressed solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism, with Minister Wadephul reaffirming Berlin's support and recognizing India’s right to protect its citizens and sovereignty.
