New Delhi, May 27 (NationPress) Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has accused the government of evading crucial inquiries regarding the whereabouts of the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack and the alleged influence of US President Donald Trump in the ceasefire negotiations between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
In a post on social media platform X, Ramesh remarked, “On Nehru's death anniversary, the nation's supreme (mis) leader and master distorter continues his Nehru-bashing. This is a dismal attempt to distract from the serious issues that demand his attention.”
He proceeded to outline four critical questions intended to highlight the alleged diplomatic failures concerning Pakistan and China.
“Why is the PM silent about the increasing hyphenation of India with Pakistan and our diplomatic failures to isolate Pakistan?” Ramesh queried, especially as New Delhi has initiated a global outreach by deploying teams of MPs to friendly nations to elucidate India's anti-terrorism stance.
Regarding the Pahalgam attackers, the Congress General Secretary in charge of Communications pressed, “Why are the terrorists responsible for the heinous Pahalgam attack still at large, particularly since they were reportedly involved in terror incidents in Poonch (Dec 2023), Gagangir (Oct 2024), and Gulmarg (Oct 2024)?”
On Trump's alleged involvement in the ceasefire negotiations during Operation Sindoor, Ramesh questioned, “Why has the PM not commented on the US President's statements — 8 in 11 days — regarding the ceasefire between India and Pakistan that led to the halt of Operation Sindoor?”
Focusing on the government’s policy towards China, he noted, “Why is the PM silent about the evident military alliance between China and Pakistan, especially since this is the same China to whom he publicly granted a clean chit on June 19, 2020, while India continues to face a growing trade deficit?”
Ramesh’s social media statement coincided with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chairing a special cabinet meeting in Pahalgam, symbolically asserting that the Union Territory will not succumb to violence and terrorism.
