New Delhi, April 16 (NationPress) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has submitted its initial chargesheet in the significant National Herald money laundering investigation, identifying prominent Congress figures Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Sam Pitroda, among others.
This chargesheet has been presented to the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi, which is set to hear discussions on April 25.
Senior Congress member Jairam Ramesh reacted to the case by accusing the government of exploiting central agencies for political motives. Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi termed the National Herald case as ‘fake’, criticizing the alleged misuse of enforcement bodies for political retribution.
In response to these developments, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi emphasized that Congress should recognize that this case was initiated prior to the arrival of the Modi government at the Centre.
Regarding the ED's chargesheet against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, Sudhanshu Trivedi remarked to IANS, "Today, the ED has listed the names of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the chargesheet concerning the National Herald case. This is purely a technical matter. The Congress party should understand that this case originated in 2012, and through a PIL, the Delhi High Court commenced this matter in October 2013. Therefore, this case was initiated before the Modi government took office. There is no justification for the Congress party to politicize this situation."
He further stated, "This case is unprecedented in Indian history, where a company with assets worth thousands of crores was sold for a liability of Rs 90 crore. Additionally, 76 percent of the shares were solely owned by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. I question the Congress about its establishment by Pandit Nehru, and how Associate General Limited (AJL), founded by freedom fighters, faced objections when shares were distributed without consulting shareholders. Even after ruling for five to six decades, how did the three newspapers founded by Pandit Nehru encounter losses resulting in their closure? Did the Congress governments provide no support whatsoever?"
Sudhanshu Trivedi asserted, "The assertions made by Congress officials and members regarding the emotional connection of freedom fighters and the Congress seem unsubstantiated. This case illustrates the validity of that emotional connection. The Congress' claims appear hollow, unfounded, and driven by malicious intent on both moral and technical grounds."
He also commended PM Modi's leadership, stating, "When our government was established under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, its focus was on how the nation can make significant advancements in technology and lay a strong foundation for economic growth. For instance, by promoting solar energy and establishing the International Solar Alliance while encouraging defense production. Under PM Modi's leadership, a robust foundation and pathway for India's development have been established."
