Vijayawada, July 22 (NationPress) The ACB Special Court has mandated that the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison authorities recognize YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP, P.V. Midhun Reddy, as a special category prisoner and ensure he receives special facilities.

The MP was apprehended by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) amid a multi-crore liquor scam on July 19 and is currently detained at Rajamahendravaram Central Prison.

The court issued this directive following a petition by the Rajampet MP, requesting home-cooked meals and essential medications.

The Deputy Jail Superintendent appeared before the judge, who instructed that the requested facilities be provided.

The MP requested a bed, bedsheet, pillow, water bottle, cooler, newspapers, pen, table, and a television to follow ongoing Parliament sessions, emphasizing the need for these items to perform his duties as an MP.

The court urged prison officials to arrange a television if possible, noting that the MP would be responsible for the costs associated with water bottles, newspapers, and food.

The prison authorities must also obtain a commitment from the MP regarding outside food. The court instructed that Midhun Reddy be granted access to healthcare services available within the prison and, if necessary, outside medical facilities.

Family members and legal representatives of Midhun Reddy will be allowed to visit him in prison three times weekly.

During the hearings regarding the MP's petition on Monday, his attorney highlighted that prison officials had not responded to the legal notice, forcing the MP to sleep on the floor. The judge ordered the jail superintendent to appear personally in court.

The ACB court has also mandated the prison authorities to submit a counter-affidavit.

Midhun Reddy, serving as the floor leader of YSRCP in the Lok Sabha, is identified as the fourth accused in this case. He was remanded to judicial custody until August 1 following his arrest on July 19.
