New Delhi, May 2 (NationPress) The Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Friday voiced its support for the 26 families who tragically lost their loved ones in the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, J&K, on April 22. They adopted a resolution emphasizing that it is time for the nation to unite and send a strong message to Pakistan.
“The entire nation is seeking accountability, answers, and justice. The individuals responsible for this despicable attack must face the full weight of the law,” the CWC's resolution declared, holding Pakistan accountable for the heinous act committed against tourists.
The resolution urged the government to act decisively, with strategic clarity and international collaboration, to isolate and hold Pakistan accountable for its ongoing support of terrorism in India.
As the top decision-making body of the Congress party, the CWC emphasized that this is not the time for political division and called for unity among all citizens to convey a strong message that India stands united in its fight against terror.
“We must transcend political differences and deliver an unequivocal message that India is united and resilient,” it further stated.
Inquiring about the intelligence failures, the CWC reaffirmed its previous demand for prompt accountability regarding security lapses in this heavily fortified region.
The resolution also called on the government to provide ongoing support to the affected families, stating, “The Congress party advocates for continuous moral and institutional assistance to the victims’ families. Financial compensation is insufficient; long-term rehabilitation, mental health support, and honoring the memory of those lost through national recognition and civic remembrance are equally crucial.”
Additionally, the CWC appealed to all citizens to maintain unity, calmness, and determination.
“Let our response to this act of terrorism illustrate the strength of our democracy, the depth of our unity, and the resilience of our Republic,” the statement concluded.
