Amaravati, Oct 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has called upon the NDA MPs, ministers, MLAs, and other leaders to support the populace amidst the looming threat of the severe cyclone Montha.
During a teleconference with NDA leaders, he emphasized that every member, from grassroots to leadership, must assist the community in these challenging times.
The president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) urged leaders from TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP to be accessible to individuals in the cyclone-affected regions.
Indicating that cyclone Montha is set to impact the state, the Chief Minister mentioned that it is currently located 270 km from Kakinada, moving at 15 km/h.
The cyclone is expected to make landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, with anticipated heavy rainfall in Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Eluru districts.
CM Naidu detailed the precautions being implemented to minimize loss of life and property damage.
"We are dispatching real-time alerts via mobile phones based on the severity of the situation. Authorities have been briefed on necessary measures to protect crops from flooding.
He encouraged NDA volunteers to step up for relief efforts, ensuring community awareness.
The Chief Minister also indicated that the coalition government would seek central assistance if required.
"Our primary objective is to safeguard lives and mitigate losses. We must stand by the people during crises. The NDA should coordinate effectively with governmental efforts for cyclone relief," he stated.
Recalling the effective handling of previous cyclones like Titli and Hudhud, CM Naidu expressed confidence in overcoming the challenges posed by Montha.
He informed NDA leaders that the cyclone's impact is affecting 39 constituencies.
In preparation for potential flash floods, the government has deployed NDRF and SDRF personnel at field levels.
"We are undertaking swift measures to clear fallen trees and poles. Fishermen who ventured into the sea have been brought back safely. NDA workers should maintain coordination with them," he concluded.
