Jaipur, July 17 (NationPress) A shocking incident has emerged from Rajasthan's Alwar district, where a Dalit youth was allegedly kidnapped, stripped of his clothes, and filmed, with the video subsequently sent to his family.
The heinous act has ignited outrage, raising significant concerns regarding the state's law and order under the Bhajan Lal Sharma administration.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Leader of Opposition, Alwar MLA Tika Ram Jully, have vehemently condemned the event, labeling it a disturbing indication of the current government's shortcomings.
In a media address, a visibly shaken Ashok Gehlot stated, “Today, I feel profound sadness. I have never witnessed such a horrifying video. A Dalit youth was abducted, completely undressed, taken from Alwar to Bundi, and a video was dispatched to his family. It is so horrifying that it’s unbearable to watch.”
Gehlot further remarked, “This occurrence highlights the declining state of law and order. If such crimes can unfold within just a year and a half of governance, what can we expect over the next five years? This transcends mere law enforcement issues; it’s a matter of humanity and public interest. The government must take immediate action.”
Jully also criticized the state government, remarking, “The law and order situation in Rajasthan has crumbled. This is not an isolated incident—another case from Alwar involved a youth who died in police custody under suspicious circumstances, which is equally troubling.”
Jully urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was recently in Jaipur, to address this incident and demand explanations from Chief Minister Sharma. “Such occurrences are becoming commonplace across various districts. This is clear evidence of the failure of governance,” he asserted. Both leaders have called for strict and immediate measures from the government to ensure justice and restore public faith in law enforcement.
