Mumbai, March 15 (NationPress) Senior leader of the Maharashtra Congress and former MP Husain Dalwai has expressed his strong backing for Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, regarding his recent criticism of the RSS.

In an interview with IANS, Dalwai stated, "I have asserted this previously, and I reaffirm it today — the RSS is a terrorist organization. Various wrong ideologies are propagated in their shakhas. In these gatherings, they even shoot at images of Mahatma Gandhi. Tushar Gandhi has not made any inappropriate statements."

Dalwai called on the authorities to ensure Tushar Gandhi's safety. "His life is at risk. The police must guarantee his security," he added.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Tushar Gandhi stirred controversy during the inauguration of a statue of the late Gandhian P. Gopinathan Nair at Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram, labeling the BJP and the RSS as "dangerous and insidious enemies" who have infiltrated Kerala.

Regarding the proposed Waqf Bill, Dalwai accused the government of weaponizing it against the Muslim community. "This bill is being introduced to strip Muslims of their mosques and properties. The government aims to seize land and homes belonging to Muslims. Numerous opposition parties, including the INDIA bloc, are united in their opposition to this bill," he told IANS.

Dalwai also supported AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi's critique of the bill, asserting, "We categorically oppose this bill and align with Owaisi's stance on the issue," he emphasized.

In response to Owaisi's recent comments targeting the RSS and BJP, particularly concerning Veer Savarkar, Dalwai reaffirmed allegations against the Hindutva figure. "Owaisi's remarks are accurate. Veer Savarkar authored many objectionable texts regarding Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and even Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. When Jawaharlal Nehru learned of these writings, he took measures to eliminate them. Why isn't Devendra Fadnavis acting similarly today?" Dalwai queried.

He further claimed that the RSS does not hold Shivaji Maharaj in high esteem. "The members of the RSS never regarded Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as a king; they see him merely as a professional," he asserted.

On the topic of historical figures, Dalwai warned against glorifying the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Criticizing Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, Dalwai stated, "Muslims should not extol Aurangzeb. He was a tyrant. Abu Azmi ought to study history and grasp this fact."

Dalwai also backed Sanjay Raut, a leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), who controversially compared the current BJP-led government to Aurangzeb's rule. "Aurangzeb's reign was oppressive, but it was that of a monarch. Today, we exist in a democracy, yet the BJP government acts as though it transcends democratic principles. Their governance is even more oppressive than Aurangzeb's regime," Dalwai communicated to IANS.
