Mumbai, Jan 25 (NationPress) Senior Maharashtra Congress leader and former MP Husain Dalwai addressed multiple issues, including the Bombay High Court's ruling on loudspeakers.

He also expressed his thoughts on the U.S. Supreme Court's decision regarding the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a suspect in the Mumbai terror attacks, and discussed arrangements for the Maha Kumbh Mela.

In an exclusive chat with IANS, Dalwai welcomed the Bombay High Court's ruling on loudspeakers, which stated that their use is unnecessary for any religion and urged for strict enforcement against their deployment.

The Congress leader emphasized that this ruling should be enforced across all religions, not limited to mosques. He pointed out that the loud noise from loudspeakers contributes to environmental pollution and poses challenges for the elderly and children.

He remarked, “The Muslim community has already taken steps to lower the volume of loudspeakers. They should only be utilized in areas inhabited by Muslims and at reduced volume in the mornings to avoid disturbing anyone.”

Dalwai also commented on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling to extradite Tahawwur Rana to India, calling it a positive development. “This is a welcome decision, and the Congress party has consistently advocated for this issue. It was a significant point during the Congress administration, and the progress in this matter is encouraging,” he told IANS.

He raised concerns regarding other fugitives like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, and Dawood Ibrahim, stating that decisive measures should be undertaken to bring these individuals back to India. “Any organization supporting terrorism and violence should not be tolerated in the nation,” he asserted.

In response to inquiries about the Kumbh Mela arrangements, Dalwai noted that many religious individuals hold the belief that bathing at the Kumbh Mela absolves them of sins. However, he questioned this notion, stating that this belief is misguided.

He emphasized that after participating in the Kumbh Mela, individuals require adequate provisions for health and safety, which are currently insufficient. He highlighted that while numerous people flock to bathe in the Ganga River, the unhygienic conditions pose a substantial risk of disease spread.

Dalwai provided the example of the Haj pilgrimage, where meticulous arrangements are made for participants from around the globe. He believes similar standards should be implemented at the Kumbh Mela.

He warned that any disruptions during this event could adversely affect the entire nation and society. He advocated for comprehensive health checks, cleanliness, and provisions for the vast number of attendees at the Kumbh Mela to mitigate any potential health risks.
