Bhopal, Jan 14 (NationPress) The PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, recognized as the largest domestic rooftop solar program globally, is revolutionizing India's energy framework by supplying solar power to millions of households, with a goal of reaching one crore homes by March 2027.

Across the nation, countless families are benefiting from this scheme, with residents of Damoh in Madhya Pradesh serving as a prime example. Many beneficiaries, especially from lower and middle-income backgrounds, are expressing their appreciation for the initiative and praising the Modi government.

Sachin Soni, a resident of Indra Colony, mentioned that the primary aim of this initiative is to encourage solar energy usage so that every economically disadvantaged person can have electricity at home.

“For those tired of exorbitant electricity bills, this scheme is a true blessing. I had solar panels installed six months ago,” he stated.

“On average, we generate about 2-3 units of electricity daily. I invested around Rs 2 lakh in a 3-kilowatt solar panel installed on my rooftop. Within just 60 days, I received a subsidy of Rs 78,000,” added Soni.

Discussing the advantages, he elaborated, “In the summer, my electricity bill would range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 monthly, but since installing the solar panels, it has dropped to only Rs 500 to 800.

“I run several appliances including an AC, fridge, induction stove, washing machine, and a water heating rod. The maintenance cost is minimal. Occasionally, I simply need to rinse the panels to clear dust,” he added.

Another beneficiary, Sanjay Ratle, shared his experience of having solar panels installed under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

He expressed, “Our electricity usage has significantly changed. I put in a 3-kilowatt solar panel which costs around Rs 2 lakh and subsidies are provided; Rs 78,000 is credited to your account within about 2-3 months.”

“It has been nearly a year since installation. I started in January 2024 and after reviewing my bills over the year, I realized my electricity charges, which used to be Rs 4,000 to 5,000 in summer, have now reduced to Rs 1,000 to 1,200 this year,” he noted.

He encouraged fellow residents to consider solar panel installation, stating, “Your electricity expenses will decrease significantly, and the Rs 2 lakh investment will pay off within 2-3 years, while the central government provides a subsidy of Rs 78,000. Additionally, they offer free maintenance for about 20 to 25 years. If any damage occurs, the company assures repairs.”
