Jaipur, Aug 11 (NationPress) A national-level Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is set to take place today in Jhunjhunu. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will oversee the event, where the first installment of insurance claims for the Rabi season 2024-25 and Kharif season 2024 will be directly deposited into the bank accounts of farmers.
Symbolic cheques will also be handed to beneficiaries of various agricultural schemes during this program.
This initiative aims to transfer approximately Rs 1,200 crore through DBT to nearly 27 lakh crop insurance policyholder farmers across Rajasthan.
The scheme is designed to ensure timely payment of claims, protecting farmers from losses due to natural disasters, pests, or diseases.
Utilizing the DBT process removes intermediaries, ensuring that the complete benefit goes straight to the intended recipients.
This nationwide event will see participation from countless farmers across India, marking a significant advancement in the central government's dedication to financial support for cultivators.
The initial payments for both the Rabi 2024-25 and Kharif 2024 seasons will be credited to eligible farmers' accounts on the same day, promoting transparency and efficiency.
In Rajasthan, the implementation of PMFBY has shown remarkable outcomes. Since the current state government's tenure began, as of July 2025, a total of Rs 3,912.53 crore has been allocated as crop insurance claims to 148 lakh eligible farmers.
These funds have provided essential assistance to farmers facing crop damage, enabling them to recover and reinvest in their agricultural endeavors.
Today’s event is anticipated to attract farmers, local representatives, and officials from the agriculture department.
It will also highlight success stories of farmers who have gained from the PMFBY.
By harnessing technology and the DBT system, the state government continually aims to fortify rural livelihoods, enhance agricultural resilience, and bolster farmer confidence in institutional support.
