New Delhi, Nov 23 (NationPress) As India and Israel look to implement the proposed free trade agreement (FTA) in two distinct phases, it is anticipated that bilateral trade will see significant growth, alongside enhanced relations in areas such as innovation, research, and development, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

He mentioned that his visit to Israel, marking the first time in 20 years as the Commerce Minister, has yielded fruitful outcomes.

“I am optimistic that this visit will lead to a boost in bilateral trade between India and Israel, enhance our collaboration in innovation, research, and development, and significantly increase investment opportunities between our nations,” stated the minister in Jerusalem.

He noted that both nations are eager to swiftly finalize the initial phase of the FTA, allowing the trade community to reap the benefits promptly.

“India and Israel have a knack for turning challenges into opportunities,” remarked the minister, emphasizing that the four Labour Codes implemented in India signify a continuous effort to transform procedures that support our workers, trade, industry, and businesses.

Goyal also interacted with the dynamic Indian community in Israel, alongside his counterpart Nir Barkat, at a special event in Jerusalem.

“I underscored the strong connections between India and Israel, highlighting the crucial role played by the Indian community in Israel and the Jewish community in India in fostering people-to-people ties,” Goyal shared in a post on X.
