Mumbai, Jan 21 (NationPress) – In a surprising announcement, Zomato’s parent company Eternal Limited revealed that its CEO Deepinder Goyal will resign from his position effective February 1, 2026. The announcement noted that Albinder Dhindsa, currently the CEO of Blinkit, will step in as the new chief executive.
In his letter to shareholders, Goyal expressed a growing interest in innovative ideas that entail greater risks and require exploration. He indicated that these ideas are better pursued outside the structure of a public company like Eternal, which must maintain a focused and disciplined business strategy.
“Recently, I have been attracted to a series of new concepts that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation,” he stated.
He emphasized that if these ideas aligned with Eternal’s strategic direction, he would have pursued them within the organization.
Last week, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha celebrated a victory with gig workers concerning their “safety, dignity, and work conditions,” as the government instructed food delivery and quick-commerce platforms to eliminate rigid “10-minute delivery” commitments.
Chadha remarked in a video message that it is a historic day for gig workers, as the Central government has dismantled private companies’ “10-minute delivery” branding. “I want to express my gratitude to the Central government for intervening in this matter,” he said, highlighting the serious concerns related to “10-minute delivery.”
He pointed out that the promise of “10-minute delivery” adds immense mental stress to delivery workers, compelling them to drive recklessly to meet tight deadlines, thus posing a risk to all road users.
Previously, Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged major food delivery and quick-commerce platforms to abolish rigid '10-minute' delivery time commitments, asserting that the safety of delivery partners must take precedence over speed.
Mandaviya held discussions with officials from Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, and Zomato in Delhi, advising them to remove stringent delivery deadlines from their platforms and promotional materials in the interest of worker safety.
