Did Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Just Expose AAP's 'Corrupt' Education Model?

New Delhi, Sep 5 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration’s education framework, describing it as “fraught with corruption”, and pledged to enhance the standard of government institutions in the metropolis.

During an event honoring teachers alongside Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, CM Gupta expressed, “The previous administration squandered crores on self-promotion. Ultimately, students did not benefit from their education approach as the focus was on their own publicity.”

CM Gupta emphasized that not a single new school building was constructed during the previous government’s tenure, with many institutions still operating from portacabins. She underscored the lack of teachers and principals under the previous administration.

As a proud product of a government school, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the crucial role these institutions play in shaping a nation’s future and the impact of teachers on students.

“Whether you are a Chief Minister, Prime Minister, or Union Education Minister, we all hail from government schools,” CM Gupta stated at the ‘Teacher Maha Kumbh – State Teacher Honour Ceremony’ organized by the Delhi government in celebration of Teachers' Day at Thyagaraj Stadium.

CM Gupta aims to elevate the quality of government schools in Delhi to a level that all parents would want to enroll their children.

“We are committed to making Delhi's government schools superior to any public institution in the country. The 70,000 teachers here should be provided with modern amenities, and over 18 lakh students deserve quality, value-based, and future-ready education,” she affirmed, promising features like smart classrooms, advanced laboratories, comprehensive libraries, and playgrounds.

“Just as government colleges are regarded favorably by students and parents, I envision Delhi's government schools becoming highly sought after,” she added.

Stating that a teacher's pride is intertwined with national pride, she remarked that achieving this can only happen when educators instill a sense of national pride in their students.

Recognizing the inadequacies in facilities for teachers in government schools, CM Gupta remarked, “Their role is more challenging than that of their private school counterparts.”

“You are integral to nation building; do not view your daily responsibilities merely as jobs,” she urged.

Later, in a post on X, CM Gupta shared, “Today, at the Teacher Maha Kumbh – State Teacher Honour Ceremony, I engaged with teachers and children in the esteemed presence of the Honourable Union Education Minister Shri @dpradhanbjpji.”

“The remarkable performances by the children in tribute to the teachers touched everyone’s hearts. Teachers are not confined to their careers but are actively involved in the noble endeavor of nation-building. The generation they shape becomes the pride of society and the nation, bringing glory to India,” she concluded.
