New Delhi, Oct 11 (NationPress) - On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented cheques of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 11 government employees who tragically lost their lives while serving during the pandemic. The Chief Minister emphasized that this gesture transcends mere financial aid; it serves as a heartfelt tribute to their courage and dedication.
“The bravery and selfless commitment of these individuals will forever be remembered, inspiring future generations with the values of duty, compassion, and devotion,” she expressed.
During a modest ceremony at the Delhi Secretariat, the Chief Minister acknowledged that no government can fully compensate for the loss of life, yet it remains a moral obligation to support the bereaved families.
She expressed pride in the fact that the families of these devoted personnel, who served with unwavering commitment throughout the pandemic, have now received their deserved recognition.
Rekha Gupta reiterated that the Delhi government has consistently adhered to a ‘People First’ approach in its governance strategy.
Additionally, she assured that the government would continue to assist these families financially and address their various needs and concerns. Delhi Minister of Social Welfare Ravindra Indraj Singh was also present at the event.
The employees honored included V. Nangthanlian (Department of Trade and Taxes), Raj Bala Garg (GTB Hospital), Babita (CBPACS), Rohan Joshi (MCD), Dr. Ravinder Kumar Goel (DGHS), Aniyamma Reji (MAMC), Biswajit Das (DTC), Rajesh Kumar (Department of Education), Dr. Naveen Ram (BSF), Dr. Vijay Singh Rajan (BSF), and Arun Sood (DHS).
Rekha Gupta stated that the dedication and spirit of service exhibited by these personnel will forever be a prominent chapter in the history of Delhi.
She noted that the Covid-19 pandemic was not just a public health crisis but a profound tragedy for countless families.
“Today, we honor all who succumbed during the pandemic. This assistance symbolizes the empathy and solidarity of the Delhi Government,” she declared.
The Chief Minister recalled that as fear and uncertainty gripped the nation during the pandemic, it was government doctors, nurses, paramedics, sanitation workers, teachers, and other frontline workers who bravely risked their lives in service of the public.
“These courageous individuals not only fulfilled their obligations but also set an extraordinary standard of humanity and dedication,” she added.
