How is Delhi CM Tackling Waterlogging with Rainwater Harvesting?

New Delhi, Sep 7 (NationPress) Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has given the green light for the creation of rainwater harvesting points in low-lying areas of Shalimar Bagh to effectively manage localized rainwater accumulation. This initiative was announced during a review meeting focused on development projects in her Assembly constituency.

CM Gupta instructed officials to accelerate the installation of rainwater harvesting pits in areas prone to waterlogging. In a message shared on X, she mentioned, “Today, I reviewed the ongoing development works in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency at Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan.”

“We will set up harvesting points in the waterlogged regions of Shalimar Bagh. The revitalization of local markets will commence, and necessary actions will be taken to address leaning or tilted trees. Ensuring the timely completion of public interest projects remains our utmost priority,” she stated.

During the meeting, she emphasized the need for officials to continually monitor the progress of ongoing projects and provide detailed status updates within the agreed timeframe.

“We also discussed the status of completed and pending initiatives, along with issuing guidelines to resolve issues related to land use,” she noted.

Previously, the Chief Minister announced a substantial infrastructure boost in the Capital by establishing its own engineering cadre.

She stated on X, “Delhi is about to have its own engineering cadre. The direct recruitment of engineers in the PWD will inject new vigor and strength into development initiatives.”

Every project is set to be completed punctually, and Delhi aims to progress as a developed and prosperous capital with robust infrastructure, she added.

Her announcement came shortly before she joined Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva to review arrangements for dispatching trucks with relief materials for flood-affected victims in Punjab.

On Saturday, she pledged an assistance package of Rs 5 crore for those impacted by the calamity in Punjab.

“I pray for a swift resolution to this crisis. On behalf of the Delhi Government, we are committing Rs 5 crore to the Punjab CM Relief Fund,” she mentioned after assessing relief measures for flood victims in Delhi.

“We hope Punjab can recover from these challenging times quickly, allowing its citizens to return to their homes and normal lives... I have personally communicated with the Punjab Chief Minister to assure him of our readiness to provide further assistance if needed,” she remarked.
