New Delhi, June 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, emphasized on Monday that her administration has prioritized women's safety as a fundamental aspect of governance, with initiatives underway to address unsafe and poorly lit areas within the city.
In a statement shared on X, she asserted, “We have transformed our commitment to women's safety in the capital into a core priority of governance. Ongoing efforts are being coordinated with law enforcement and city administration to enhance safety for women across Delhi.”
She elaborated, “We are actively identifying dark areas and bolstering security measures in those locales. The frequency of PCR patrols has been increased, panic buttons and dedicated women’s PCR services in public transit have been enhanced, and initiatives like ‘One Stop Centres’ are in place to provide prompt support to women. Our vision is to create a secure Delhi.”
CM Gupta also discussed her government’s initiatives to combat air pollution and ensure the implementation of judicial orders to halt the sale of fuel to end-of-life (EoL) vehicles.
“In light of Delhi’s pollution crisis, the Supreme Court and pollution control agencies such as CAQM have persistently highlighted the importance of this issue, calling for a ban on fueling end-of-life vehicles—those that should no longer receive petrol or diesel. This matter is under continuous examination, and following court directives, we aim to execute these measures effectively,” she stated.

Beginning Tuesday, the Delhi government intends to halt the sale of petrol and diesel to end-of-life (EoL) or over-aged vehicles, a strategic measure to combat vehicular emissions contributing to air pollution in the capital, as reported by an official.
Petrol station operators confirmed on Monday that Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and other devices connected to the transport ministry’s database have been installed at their locations to identify EoL vehicles.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has mandated that all EoL vehicles identified through ANPR or similar devices at filling stations will be prohibited from obtaining fuel starting July 1 in the NCT of Delhi.
The transport department has classified EoL vehicles as those that are no longer validly registered, regardless of whether they run on petrol, CNG, or diesel, including petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years.
