New Delhi, Sep 11 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Thursday, assumed responsibility for the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency as the Minister-in-Charge and conducted a thorough assessment of the advancement of developmental initiatives and outstanding projects in the region.

The session involved comprehensive discussions regarding key matters impacting the constituency and potential remedies.

Significant focus was placed on tackling the issues of encroachment and traffic congestion across various Assembly constituencies.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to formulate a strategy for the installation of pink urinals (women's toilets) in the markets of Old Delhi.

The meeting was attended by Praveen Khandelwal, BJP Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, alongside party MLAs, Councillors, and senior officials from relevant departments.

During the discussions, MLAs and Councillors brought up several pressing matters, including park redevelopment, the construction of multi-level car parks, market modernisation, utilization of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) land, road repairs, sewer and drain cleaning, and the maintenance and installation of streetlights.

Chief Minister Gupta acknowledged these requests and directed officials to take prompt action.

She pointed out that issues like encroachment and ongoing traffic congestion in Old Delhi areas such as Chandni Chowk, Kashmere Gate, and Sadar Bazaar were causing significant inconvenience to both residents and traders.

She issued explicit instructions for the immediate resolution of these challenges.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for improved cooperation among the Municipal Corporation, Traffic Police, Delhi Jal Board, and other agencies to devise effective strategies for road management and excavation works for water pipelines.

She also highlighted the lack of urinals, especially women-friendly pink urinals, in Old Delhi markets and tasked officials with preparing plans for their timely installation.

CM Gupta directed that all files related to projects under the Chief Minister's Development Fund (CMDF) awaiting approval should be prioritized, authorized without delay, and executed within the designated timeframe.

She encouraged MLAs and Councillors to draft and submit proposals based on their constituencies' requirements so that work could be sanctioned and implemented swiftly.

Expressing concern over the increasing number of stray cattle, particularly cows, on the streets of various Assembly constituencies, the Chief Minister noted that this situation posed both safety and traffic hazards and necessitated a compassionate response.

She announced that the BJP-led state government would establish 11 cow shelters throughout Delhi in phases, equipped with adequate facilities for food, medical care, and safe housing.

This initiative aims to both reduce the presence of stray cattle on the streets and ensure their welfare.

The Chief Minister mandated that all projects be executed with urgency and transparency, with daily progress updates maintained on the e-file system.

She emphasized that MPs, MLAs, and Councillors must collaborate closely to ensure that the advantages of development initiatives reach the people of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency swiftly and efficiently.
