As per sources from the Delhi Police, CCTV footage indicates that a white i20 car was stationed in the parking area close to the Red Fort around 3:19 p.m., remaining there for nearly three hours before departing at approximately 6:48 p.m.
The vehicle was noted to exit the parking area during a peak time of pedestrian traffic in the region, according to police officials.
This footage is currently under meticulous examination to ascertain who parked the vehicle, who accessed it, and who subsequently drove it away. Investigators are also tracing the full trajectory of the vehicle, including its origin, how it arrived at the Red Fort parking, and how it subsequently moved towards the traffic signal located directly in front of the historic site.
Police officials confirmed that over 100 CCTV clips are being meticulously scrutinized, including recordings from adjacent roads and parking toll booths, to outline the vehicle’s journey and pinpoint the suspect. “The suspect appears to be alone in the footage,” stated sources from the Delhi Police, adding that the route towards Daryaganj is currently under investigation.
Authorities will also interrogate the parking attendant who was present during that timeframe to acquire further details about the car’s arrival and exit.
A case has been filed under UAPA Sections 16 and 18, in addition to provisions of the Explosives Act and various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In response to the ongoing situation, the Delhi Police have implemented enhanced security measures, including the closure of Gate Nos. 1 and 4 of the Lal Qila Metro Station to the public due to active security operations in the vicinity.
