New Delhi, November 27 (NationPress) The Delhi Police have taken legal action against a father-daughter pair for defrauding both tourists and travel agents through counterfeit discounted air and hotel vouchers, revealing a significant travel scam that they allegedly executed without consequence for several years.
The individuals involved, Sandeep Chowdhary and his daughter Mallika Chowdhary, were scrutinized by law enforcement for conducting an intricate scam, during which they reportedly utilized fraudulent holiday arrangements and falsified bookings to deceive travelers.
Numerous FIRs have been lodged against this father-daughter team at various police stations, citing cheating and related offenses under the BNS. An FIR registered at New Friends Colony on November 13 details how a victim lost approximately Rs 8 lakh under the guise of affordable air tickets and hotel accommodations.
The victim initially sought the duo's services for a trip to Singapore, making full payments for the tickets and travel arrangements. However, after being persuaded to cancel their plans, they were denied any form of refund. The victim reported that their multiple requests for reimbursement went unanswered.
Ashish Jain, a businessman based in Gurugram, also fell prey to this travel scam. He disclosed to IANS the operational methods of the father-daughter duo and how numerous travel agents, including himself, were ensnared by their deceptive strategies.

Ashish Jain, who manages a tour and travel company, accused Mallika Chaudhary of reaching out to him via a mutual acquaintance, ultimately plotting to deceive him.
“She initially gained my trust by presenting a lucrative business opportunity and later placing a bulk order for air tickets. I covered the booking costs using my credit lines, expecting payment that never materialized. Despite my repeated inquiries for payment, they cut off communication and blocked me,” he recounted.
Another FIR filed at the New Friends Colony police station reveals that the same pair swindled two brothers out of nearly 12 lakhs by promising them inexpensive hotels and air tickets.
The victim, Dhruv Goyal, informed police that he reached out to them for booking air travel and hotel stays for a vacation in Switzerland. He contacted Mallika Chaudhary and arranged a vacation package through her.
The total charged was Rs 5.48 lac for tickets and over Rs 2 lakhs for hotel accommodations. The brothers were lured by the attractive discounts offered on the air tickets.
Later, they discovered that neither their bookings were made nor did they receive any refunds, prompting them to report the matter to the police.
Dr. Hemant Tiwari, DCP of South-East Delhi, addressed the media, confirming that an FIR has been filed at New Friends Colony police station under the relevant sections, with teams assigned to investigate the case.
