New Delhi, May 25 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized her administration's dedication to ensuring swift, clear, and empathetic handling of public grievances. An official announced that the public grievance portal will soon undergo an upgrade.
CM Gupta instructed officials to address outstanding grievances without delay, asserting that the government serves the public, not the other way around.
She stated, “This initiative transcends mere grievance redressal; it embodies our pledge to heed the citizens and implement solutions. We will guarantee that every complaint receives attention in a timely and responsible fashion.”
She highlighted that the existing public grievance portal will be enhanced to become more user-friendly. This upgrade will empower citizens to submit complaints without encountering technical obstacles. Complainants will also have the ability to monitor the status of their complaints online and provide feedback.
Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s principles of transparency and good governance, the Delhi government is prioritizing direct engagement with residents by organizing Jan Sunwai or public grievance hearing camps.
These Jan Sunwai camps take place every Saturday across all revenue districts, in collaboration with public officials, including Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, and Municipal Councilors.
The camps feature the involvement of District Magistrates and various officials from the Delhi government, the Municipal Corporation, Delhi Police, power companies, and over 18 additional departments.
To maintain a direct link with the public, these events are conducted not only at revenue office locations but also at schools, community centers, and public venues like chaupals and baraat ghars, as stated by an official.
“To date, over a thousand grievances have been documented at Jan Sunwai camps throughout Delhi. Many of these have been resolved on-site, while others have been referred to the appropriate departments for further action,” the statement declared.
Major concerns raised by citizens include water supply, sanitation, encroachment, road maintenance, and law and order, according to an official.
Agencies such as the Delhi Jal Board, Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, Health Department, Food and Civil Supplies Department, and Delhi Police are working together to tackle these issues.
At the Jan Sunwai camp on May 17, more than 1,260 citizens sought resolutions, highlighting the public's growing confidence in and awareness of this initiative.
Similarly, over 1,350 individuals participated in the May 24 Jan Sunwai camp, according to the official.
