Dehradun, June 12 (NationPress) The Special Cell of Delhi Police has successfully apprehended Gurdas Singh, a fugitive wanted for his involvement in a shooting incident at a property dealer's office located in the Mansarovar Park area of the national capital, officials stated on Thursday.
Following a credible tip-off, Singh, who had been evading capture after receiving bail, was arrested by the Special Cell on June 6 in Uttarakhand, where he had been intentionally avoiding law enforcement for a significant duration.
In a noteworthy development, authorities uncovered that Singh was allegedly disseminating the ideology of the deceased Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and the designated pro-Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
"Gurdas Singh's mobile device contained provocative material and statements attributed to designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, alongside content that praises Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, suggesting potential ideological connections to extremist and anti-national factions," the police reported.
Moreover, the Delhi Police indicated that both security and intelligence agencies would collaborate in interrogating Gurdas Singh to ascertain any formal or informal links to anti-national organizations.
This arrest is considered a significant advancement in an ongoing investigation related to the seizure of an illegal firearm.
Singh's arrest has prompted the Special Cell to broaden its operations, with intentions to execute multiple raids across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to locate and apprehend the original supplier of the previously recovered illegal weapon.
Investigators are currently analyzing both forward and backward connections of the seized firearm, striving to determine whether Singh is involved in a larger arms trafficking network.
They also intend to pursue any additional leads that may arise during the ongoing investigation.
Singh had been on the run since the shooting at the Mansarovar Park office and was the target of a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) issued by the Karkardooma Court.
During his arrest, police recovered a pistol from the toolbox of his motorcycle in Dilshad Garden, along with a photograph from his phone showing him holding a firearm. The motorcycle, according to police, was reported stolen from Sagarpur.
