New Delhi, Oct 4 (NationPress) The government of Delhi has sanctioned the yearly verification of individuals receiving financial aid through various welfare initiatives, as stated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday, emphasizing her commitment to transparency.
She indicated that this initiative will eliminate ineligible and fraudulent beneficiaries, ensuring that support reaches approximately 600,000 deserving individuals.
“This procedure will assist in removing false claims and bolster the credibility of government programs, while fostering social justice and transparency,” she remarked.
The comprehensive beneficiary verification plan was recently approved by the Delhi Cabinet following allegations of list manipulation by previous administrations.
This verification will be entirely funded by the government, with fees set at Rs 70 per beneficiary at CSC centres and Rs 100 per beneficiary for home verification. An estimated 600,000 beneficiaries will be verified annually, at a projected total cost of Rs 5.57 crore, which is allocated under the 2025-26 budget.
CM Gupta noted that millions of vulnerable individuals benefit from social welfare programs, and annual verification will promote transparency and fairness. “This step will guarantee that governmental aid reaches the proper recipients,” she asserted.
The administration has collaborated with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV), a special initiative supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), to execute this process.
The Chief Minister elaborated that each beneficiary will undergo biometric authentication, and a Life Certificate will be generated.
Furthermore, beneficiaries’ live photographs, Aadhaar information, contact numbers, and addresses will be collected. All data will subsequently be digitized and updated in the relevant department’s database, she stated.
For those unable to visit CSC centres, home verification will be arranged. A call centre and helpline will also be established to swiftly address inquiries. Once verified, each beneficiary will receive a unique digital identity card in a soft copy, according to an official statement.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the goal is to ensure that the names of beneficiaries who are no longer eligible or have passed away are automatically removed from the list.
