New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) The youth of the nation, particularly in the capital, have made their voices heard, expressing robust support for the NDA government’s contentious 'One Nation, One Election' initiative, which was introduced in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon. The Lok Sabha witnessed 269 MPs voting in favor and 198 against the bill.

On Tuesday, Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal presented two bills aimed at facilitating simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and the state Assemblies, as well as Union Territories.

Numerous young individuals from Delhi shared their enthusiastic backing for the 'One Nation, One Election' initiative when speaking to IANS.

Montu Kumar Yadav, a young resident of Delhi who stands firmly behind the decision of PM Narendra Modi's government regarding the 'One Nation, One Election' initiative, remarked, "Today, the architects of our Constitution have emerged victorious. There is a renewed energy and passion in us. The manner in which this bill has been introduced in Parliament signifies a revolution of public opinion. We will now reach out to our local representatives, MLAs and MPs, who oppose this bill, to enlighten them on its advantages."

Another young Delhiite, Rishabh Rohila, also expressed his support for the NDA government’s 'One Nation, One Election' initiative, stating, "I stand in favor of the 'One Nation, One Election' bill. Over 250 MPs have supported this initiative, including members from the ruling BJP, opposition parties, and independents. This bill promises to save the nation crores of rupees and resources, allowing for more prudent expenditure."

Opposition parties, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Nationalist Congress Party, have called for the bill to be referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for further discussion. The bill is now poised to be sent to a Joint Committee of Parliament for review.
