Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak Critiques Opposition for Exploiting Sambhal Violence

Lucknow, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak, expressed strong disapproval on Monday against opposition parties for their efforts to exploit the violence in Sambhal. He asserted that the government is committed to ensuring that no one is allowed to breach the law.
Pathak's statements followed a police action that barred delegations from the Samajwadi Party (SP) on November 30 and the Congress on December 2 from entering Sambhal, citing restrictions on outsiders in the violence-affected area.
A significant police presence prevented the leaders from departing their homes, leading to backlash from both political factions.
Previously, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP-led state government, labeling the restrictions as a sign of administrative and governance failure. Congress representatives described the situation as 'anarchy' and 'hooliganism' perpetrated by the state government.
In response to these claims, Pathak remarked, 'The manner in which opposition parties are politicizing the Sambhal situation is unacceptable. Our foremost objective is to maintain peace in the area. The issue is currently under judicial consideration, and we will fully adhere to the court's ruling.'
'A judicial commission visited Sambhal yesterday. We are prepared to take unbiased action based on their report. The government is dedicated to enforcing the law and will not permit any disturbances to peace,' he told IANS.
Pathak accused the opposition of 'political opportunism', stating, 'Whether from the Samajwadi Party or the Congress, their statements are merely for electoral advantage. We, on the other hand, are concentrated on reinforcing law and order throughout the state and will not accept any violations of the law.'
Pathak also criticized the SP, saying, 'We have repeatedly heard threatening remarks from the Samajwadi Party regarding similar issues. Such comments are unwarranted in politics, and we remain devoted to upholding peace and order.'
The Sambhal incident involved violent confrontations sparked by a court-ordered survey of the contested Mughal-era Jama Masjid, where allegations of a Harihar temple purportedly existing on the site incited tensions.
The unrest led to casualties, injuries, and considerable property damage, prompting the authorities to establish restrictions and maintain a robust police presence in the vicinity.
