New Delhi, Sep 10 (NationPress) The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, is poised to land in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday.
Upon arriving at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, he will be greeted by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and various senior officials from the state.
The Mauritian leader touched down in Mumbai on Tuesday for a state visit to India, aimed at bolstering the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
A key aspect of his itinerary includes a bilateral discussion with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on September 11.
As per official statements, Ramgoolam will be in the sacred city of Varanasi from September 10 to 12. During this period, he plans to engage in various cultural and spiritual events, including the renowned Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on September 12.
Following his temple visit, he is set to head to Ayodhya to pay homage at the Ram Temple site.
Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam confirmed that all arrangements for this significant visit are finalized. “The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, will arrive in Kashi on September 10. PM Modi will also be present on September 11 for bilateral talks,” Rajalingam stated.
After the discussions on September 11, PM Modi is expected to depart, while PM Ramgoolam will remain to enjoy the Ganga Aarti from a cruise on the Ganga river.
This visit signifies the robust cultural and diplomatic relations between India and Mauritius, a nation with profound historical ties to India, particularly due to its substantial Indian-origin populace.
Later in the week, Ramgoolam will participate in a business event in Mumbai and conclude his tour of India with a spiritual visit to Tirupati.
Previously, Ramgoolam visited India in 2014, being the only non-SAARC leader invited to witness the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi and the Council of Ministers.
In March, PM Modi visited Mauritius at the invitation of Ramgoolam to attend the country’s 57th National Day celebrations.
