Jaipur, Sep 10 (NationPress) In light of the ongoing unrest in the neighboring nation of Nepal, Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has voiced significant concern regarding the welfare of Indian nationals, particularly those from Rajasthan, who find themselves stranded at Kathmandu Airport.
In a post on social media platform X, CM Sharma referred to the violence as “heart-wrenching” and affirmed that the state government is diligently monitoring the situation.
“Given the rising tensions in Nepal, our government is anxious about the safety of Rajasthani individuals caught there. I've reached out to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to understand the present conditions,” he shared.
The Chief Minister urged all Rajasthani migrants in Nepal to maintain consistent communication with the Indian Embassy and adhere strictly to the advisories released by the Central government.
He reassured that the Centre is wholly committed to safeguarding and facilitating the safe return of every citizen.
Additionally, reports indicate that approximately 200 travelers from Jaipur and surrounding areas are currently stuck at Kathmandu Airport. This group had embarked on a three-Dham pilgrimage on August 28 and arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday after visiting the Pashupatinath temple. However, due to the violent protests, curfews, and transport disruptions, their return has been thwarted.
Residents, including Shambhudayal Maharshi and Banshidhar Jangid from Sinwar village (Sirsi Road, Jaipur), informed former councillor Ganpat Lal Yadav about their situation, revealing that traffic, taxi, and air services have been severely impacted, leaving them stranded at the airport.
Families of the stranded individuals are expressing deep concern for their safety and are urging the Indian government for immediate help.
As the situation in Nepal grows more perilous, officials are emphasizing the need for diplomatic efforts and evacuation strategies to ensure that the stranded citizens, particularly the sizable group from Jaipur, can safely return home.
