DMK Students’ Wing Critiques Actor Vijay Over Name Change in Raj Bhavan Press Release, Labels it Fascism

Chennai, Dec 31 (NationPress) In a scathing assessment of actor Vijay, Rajiv Gandhi, the president of the DMK Students’ Wing, criticized Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay, asserting that he is unable to differentiate between fascism and payasam, the cherished South Indian delicacy.
These comments stemmed from Vijay’s address at the TVK’s inaugural state conference in October and came after his recent interaction with Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, a vocal critic of the DMK.
During this discussion, significant law and order concerns in Tamil Nadu, including the sexual assault incident involving an Anna University student, were brought to light.
Rajiv Gandhi pointed out that in the official statement released by Raj Bhavan, Vijay was specifically referred to as C. Joseph Vijay, which highlighted his religious affiliation.
In contrast, the petition that Vijay submitted to the Governor only identified him as 'Vijay'.
In a social media update addressing this, Rajiv Gandhi questioned, “Respected Vijay, are you aware of what fascism entails? In the press statement issued by Raj Bhavan, which operates as an extension of the BJP’s state headquarters, Kamalalayam, your name was altered to C. Joseph Vijay. This, sir, is a classic illustration of fascism.
The DMK Students’ Wing president’s statements have ignited a fiery discussion on social media, with numerous individuals backing his viewpoint while others accused him of politicizing the matter and engaging in mudslinging.
This controversy follows Vijay’s public address on October 27 in Vikkaravandi, Villupuram district, where he openly criticized the DMK and its apparent successor, Udhayanidhi Stalin.
Vijay described the DMK as the political adversary of the TVK and denounced the party for corruption and dynastic politics.
Since Vijay’s confrontation with the DMK, the party has persistently responded to the Tamil superstar-turned-politician, with the latest remarks from the DMK Students’ Wing president seen as a continuation of this political strife.
