Why is VCK Leader Thol Thirumavalavan Criticizing Vijay's Politics?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Sep 24 (NationPress) The leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Thol. Thirumavalavan, sharply criticized Vijay, the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and an actor, on Wednesday. He accused Vijay of engaging in what he termed "politics of animosity" directed against the ruling DMK and its partners.
While speaking to journalists at the Chennai airport, Thirumavalavan commented that Vijay’s political strategy lacked a positive vision and was characterized by hostility towards the Secular Progressive Alliance.
"This is not just opposition to the government; rather, it is a calculated expression of hatred. Such behavior will yield no political gain, as the public can easily discern through this misguided rhetoric," he stated.
Thirumavalavan accused Vijay of not offering a single substantial plan for the benefit of the populace.
"The citizens are looking for clarity regarding his vision for the state and the changes he promises to bring. Instead, he limits himself to attacking the DMK and its allies," he commented, warning that this insubstantial approach would ultimately fail.
Addressing Vijay’s recent comments regarding Tamil Eelam, Thirumavalavan noted that the actor had never expressed support for the cause during its most critical moments.
"For over thirty years, we have organized countless protests, demonstrations, and conferences advocating for Tamil Eelam. Even when the issue was at its peak, he remained silent. Now, he suddenly addresses it only to seek political advantage. This opportunism is exceedingly evident," he remarked.
He further mocked Vijay for his complaints about the limitations on his election campaign, emphasizing that such regulations from law enforcement are commonplace in Tamil Nadu’s political environment.
"Whether allied with the ruling party or in opposition, we have faced this situation for three decades. While it may be unfamiliar to him, it is not new to politics," Thirumavalavan jested.
Reaffirming that the people of Tamil Nadu would not be influenced by "negative politics", the VCK leader maintained that only a sincere commitment to social justice and the welfare of the people could garner enduring support.
"Politics founded on hatred and opportunism cannot thrive in this state," he concluded.
