Is AIADMK Right in Accusing Vijay of Political Confusion?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Feb 14 (NationPress) On Saturday, the AIADMK delivered a pointed rebuttal to TVK leader Vijay, accusing him of lacking political insight and trying to establish a party devoid of ideological principles. This response came after the actor-turned-politician criticized both major Dravidian parties during an executive meeting in Salem.
In a vehement statement, the AIADMK's IT wing claimed that Vijay was “borrowing leaders” from various parties and affixing “stickers without political history or comprehension.”
The party further asserted that TVK was enlisting individuals previously expelled from other political groups and managing its operations through WhatsApp groups under the guise of party organization.
Responding to Vijay's allegations of corruption, the AIADMK also questioned whether selling first-day, first-show cinema tickets for ₹2,000 constituted “looting.”
The IT wing criticized Vijay's recent social media remarks, which implied that governance under the DMK had spiraled “out of control,” while questioning how someone who rode a horse could suddenly be considered “original.”
This rebuttal followed Vijay's address to TVK executives in Salem on Friday amidst escalating election activities in Tamil Nadu, where he dismissed criticisms of his party's inexperience ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.
“They claim TVK lacks experience. What is your experience?” Vijay queried, seemingly targeting both DMK and AIADMK.
He referenced the legacies of past leaders like C.N. Annadurai, M.G. Ramachandran, and J. Jayalalithaa, stating, “Your experience is forgetting Anna and MGR. MGR forgot Jayalalithaa — is that your experience?”
“Indeed, we lack experience. We have no experience in looting. Even if we attempted, it wouldn’t come to us,” he accused the Dravidian parties of corruption and mismanagement.
As alliance discussions and seat-sharing negotiations gain traction ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, this exchange indicates a growing political rivalry between established Dravidian parties and Vijay's emerging political entity.
