Vijay Critiques DMK Over Alleged Corruption in TASMAC, Calls for Action

Chennai, March 16 (NationPress) TVK president and Tamil superstar Vijay has once again taken on the ruling DMK, this time addressing allegations of corruption in the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC).

In a sharply worded statement, Vijay accused the DMK of executing significant financial fraud and called for decisive action against those involved.

Referring to recent investigations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Vijay mentioned that the scale of organized corruption revealed in the report indicates it was devised by “highly skilled and devious minds.”

He asserted that “an entire book on corruption” could be authored about the DMK’s mishandling of TASMAC. “From minor players to major figures, a thorough investigation will unveil the main participants in this fraud. The truth must be revealed, and those at the helm -- along with their associates -- should face justice,” Vijay emphasized.

Criticizing the DMK’s governance approach, he characterized it as an “empty marketing ploy” aimed at deceiving the public. “No matter how many crores they invest in propaganda, their corrupt tactics will fail. The people will reject them in the 2026 Assembly elections,” he concluded.

Vijay’s remarks come just ahead of TVK’s highly anticipated general council meeting on March 28 in Chennai, where the party is set to adopt 23 resolutions, many targeting both the DMK-led state government and the BJP-led Centre.

Insiders suggest that Vijay’s confrontations with both parties are likely to increase in the following weeks. His change in tone was apparent in a Women’s Day video message, where he openly criticized the DMK government for the first time, marking a significant shift from his previous strategy of steering clear of direct political attacks.

Following his latest comments regarding the TASMAC scandal, TVK supporters are reportedly invigorated, viewing this as a sign of Vijay’s more assertive political stance. His address at the general council meeting is expected to amplify his critiques of both the DMK and the BJP. Additionally, TVK is preparing for a booth committee conference as part of its comprehensive political strategy.

It is worth noting that Vijay officially launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on February 2, 2024, positioning it as a party against corruption and divisive politics.

While he opted not to run in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he has confirmed that TVK will contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

On August 22, 2024, Vijay unveiled TVK’s flag and anthem at the party’s headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai. This was followed by TVK’s first significant political conference on October 27, 2024, in Vikravandi, Villupuram district, which saw an estimated attendance of three lakh.

At the Vikravandi event, Vijay launched fierce critiques against both the DMK and the BJP, labeling the DMK as his political rival and the BJP as his ideological opponent.

He accused the DMK of being a family-run entity that exploits the Dravidian identity for selfish purposes while condemning the BJP for its divisive politics.

The DMK has dismissed Vijay’s claims, suggesting that he is indirectly endorsing the BJP.

DMK leaders referred to TVK as the “C team” of the BJP, attempting to undermine its significance.

Despite such criticisms, Vijay’s political clout continues to grow. His fan club-turned-political organization, All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (AITVMI), made a notable impact in the 2021 Tamil Nadu local body elections, securing 115 out of the 169 seats it contested.

With Vijay now intensifying his political discourse, all eyes are on TVK’s general council meeting on March 28, where he is anticipated to outline the party’s electoral strategy for 2026.
