Chennai, Dec 18 (NationPress) In a passionate speech at a significant public gathering in Vijayamangalam, close to Erode in Tamil Nadu, TVK chief Vijay fiercely criticized the ruling DMK, labeling it a “destructive force”, while presenting his party as a “force of purity” ready to challenge the government in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
Addressing thousands of fervent supporters, Vijay asserted that the upcoming conflict is not merely among various political factions, but rather between “a corrupt and anti-people DMK” and the pure, people-focused entity called TVK.
He pledged that his party holds the necessary strength and vision to dismantle what he termed a “deceptive administration”.
Vijay condemned the ruling party for “saying one thing and doing another”, accusing the DMK of persistently trying to undermine his party’s ascent.
“The government is constantly plotting how to silence Vijay and TVK. They claim they are not afraid, but their actions reveal a different story,”
he asserted.
When asked about electoral rivals, Vijay mentioned that TVK will focus solely on those participating in the elections. “We will not engage with opponents who are not in the field. Just tell us who stands against us, and we will confront them,” he noted, reaffirming that his political strategy will be issue and opponent-specific.
The actor-turned-politician emotionally reflected on his connection with the public, which he said began during his initial days in the film industry.
“I entered politics because of you. Never abandon this Vijay, who has forsaken everything else. Will you stand with me till the end? I will remain grateful for a lifetime,” he told the cheering crowd.
Vijay also paid homage to social reformer Periyar, underlining his influential legacy in shaping the political landscape of Tamil Nadu. He praised Periyar as a primary inspiration for TVK’s policies, emphasizing his advocacy for caste-based representation over a century ago.
He remarked that figures like Periyar, Anna, and MGR belong to all of Tamil Nadu and urged against the misuse of their names for personal benefit.
The TVK supporters filled the 16-acre event venue, where elaborate preparations had been made.
Vijay arrived via a chartered flight into Coimbatore and traveled by road to the rally site, receiving a warm welcome along the way.
Former AIADMK leader and current TVK member Sengottaiyan hailed Vijay as a “revolutionary leader”, asserting that he had sacrificed considerable commercial earnings — estimated at Rs 500 crore — to pursue politics and serve the populace.
The event was characterized by spirited chanting, yellow flags associated with TVK, and a visibly enthusiastic turnout of volunteers, showcasing the party’s determination to pose a significant electoral challenge in western Tamil Nadu.
