Chennai, April 18 (NationPress) Vijay, the president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), declared on Saturday that his party’s campaign is gaining traction through a grassroots “people’s movement” throughout Tamil Nadu, while accusing the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of trying to hinder its outreach.

In a message on X, Vijay pointed out that TVK is not just depending on conventional roadshows or public meetings but is receiving extensive support at the household level.

Referring to the current political events as “election-time drama,” he urged voters to stay alert against misleading tactics, which he claimed are prevalent during election periods.

The actor-politician asserted that the DMK is attempting to sow confusion among voters through various means, including disseminating false information.

He also noted that permissions for campaign events involving TVK candidates are being unnecessarily delayed, restricted, or even denied at the last minute, impacting the party’s ability to effectively engage with voters.

“Although the responsibility for granting election campaign permissions lies with the Election Commission of India, certain officials are exerting pressure,” Vijay alleged, hinting at administrative interference in the campaign.

He further criticized some media outlets for publishing “fabricated reports” regarding cancellations and denials of permissions for TVK events, which he claimed contributed to public confusion.

Calling upon the legacy of social reformers like Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, K. Kamaraj, and C. N. Annadurai, Vijay stated that the principles of secularism, social justice, and communal harmony are deeply embedded in Tamil Nadu.

He firmly stated that “fascist forces” will not find a place in the political sphere of the State.

In an assertive tone, Vijay remarked that “seasoned political gamblers” driven by overconfidence believe they can suppress TVK’s growth, but they underestimate the determination of the people. He described the prevailing public mood as a “silent revolution” unfolding across the State.

“This game will last only until April 21. On April 23, not only corrupt forces but also fascist forces will be swept away in a storm of whistles,” he stated, referencing the party’s election symbol and expressing confidence ahead of the voting day.

The comments from the TVK leader come as the political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu intensifies, with parties ramping up their outreach efforts as the Assembly elections approach later this month.
