Is the DMK Women Wing Ready to Launch a Statewide Door-to-Door Campaign Starting Monday?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Feb 22 (NationPress) As the Assembly elections approach, the ruling DMK has initiated a comprehensive grassroots outreach program. The women’s wing is set to commence a door-to-door campaign across Tamil Nadu starting Monday (February 23).
The announcement was made by Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Minister Geetha Jeevan, who communicated this message to party members.
In her statement on Sunday, the minister indicated that the campaign would encompass all Assembly constituencies within the state and will be a crucial element of the party’s election strategy.
She highlighted the success of the cadre during the recent Lok Sabha elections, where the party aimed to win all 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry—a goal they successfully achieved.
“Just as we triumphed in the parliamentary elections, we must now direct our focus on the Assembly polls with equal determination. The women’s wing should spearhead efforts by directly engaging with the populace through door-to-door visits,” she stated.
Geetha Jeevan encouraged party members to showcase the state government’s welfare initiatives and developmental successes during their interactions with voters.
She noted that Tamil Nadu continues to excel in areas such as electronics exports, industrial expansion, and women's employment, referencing statistics from the Union government.
“Even the Centre has recognized that Tamil Nadu leads in various developmental metrics,” she remarked.
The minister instructed party supporters to emphasize major programs like the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam housing scheme and the subsidies offered to farmers for purchasing tractors, underlining their positive reception in rural communities.
Informing the public about these initiatives and clarifying their advantages would bolster community support, she added.
Regarding the campaign’s execution plan, Geetha Jeevan mentioned that small groups of five members could start outreach in their local areas. She recommended conducting the campaign during the evenings, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., when most residents are likely to be home.
The door-to-door initiative is set to intensify in the following weeks as the DMK ramps up preparations for the Assembly elections, concentrating on solidifying support at the grassroots level through direct voter engagement.
