New Delhi, Jan 22 (NationPress) The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the jobs and professional networking platform Apna to identify and recruit talent for registered startups. This initiative aims to provide highly skilled manpower and generate fresh job opportunities for unemployed youth, as stated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday.
The collaboration offers a financial incentive of Rs 2,000 per entity listed on the Bharat Startup Registry (Bhaskar) platform, which covers a total of 700,000 entities.
This initiative is currently valued at Rs 140 crore, with potential growth to approximately Rs 300 crore as the startup ecosystem expands, according to the explanation provided.
The partnership aims to grant credits of Rs 2000 to DPIIT-registered startups on Apna’s platform, facilitating enhanced hiring by allowing job postings and access to customized talent pools.
With 700,000 registrations on Bhaskar, this initiative signifies a financial value exceeding Rs 140 crore. As the number of startups increases, this value is expected to rise to Rs 300 crore, providing essential resources for fostering entrepreneurship in India.
The credits will grant startups access to Apna’s extensive hiring tools, which aim to improve job matching and operational efficiency. Improved talent access will expedite the time-to-market for new ventures, aiding startups in scaling their operations.
Additionally, Apna’s platform will facilitate connections for skilled workers to engage with India’s growing entrepreneurial landscape.
The credits will empower startups to utilize Apna’s job posting and AI-driven matching features, specifically tailored to their hiring requirements.
The DPIIT’s Startup India initiative will work alongside Apna to curate job postings and align talent pools with industry needs,” the statement elaborated.
The total count of registered startups in India has skyrocketed to 1,57,066 from around 400 in 2016, coinciding with the launch of the Startup India initiative. Investments in these new ventures have surged to $115 billion from $8 billion during this nine-year timeframe, according to DPIIT data.
These startups have created over 1.6 million jobs nationwide, highlighting their role as significant employment creators. Furthermore, there are more than 73,000 startups with at least one woman director recognized under the Startup India initiative.
This indicates that nearly half of the 1,57,066 startups supported by the government are led by women, showcasing their vital role in driving innovation and economic progress,” as stated officially.
India has emerged as one of the most dynamic startup ecosystems in the world, now ranking as the third-largest startup hub with over 100+ unicorns, each valued at over a billion dollars.
