Patna, Dec 4 (NationPress) On the fourth day of the Winter session of the Bihar Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha took a resolute stance against the sand mafia, asserting that illegal miners will face bulldozers as the state government escalates its efforts to combat unlawful sand mining.
During the discussion in the House, Deputy CM Sinha assessed the government's recent initiatives and emphasized its dedication to halting illegal sand extraction.
He stated, "I want to remind those who desire sand that during the times of violence over sand, you (RJD) were in power while I was in the Opposition."
He referenced past events, including a situation in Koilwar, where nearly 1,000 rounds were fired over sand, causing a three-day uproar in the Assembly.
When RJD MLA Bhai Virendra challenged his comments, Deputy CM Sinha countered that no such violent incidents had occurred in the past year, noting that sand revenue had surged by 117 percent in the state.
He mentioned that overloading has been curtailed, and a reward of Rs 10,000 has been introduced for reporting such violations.
Deputy CM Sinha asserted that strict actions under the Revenue and Land Reforms Department are compelling several sand mafias to surrender their ghats and flee.
"We will not allow them to escape. Their security deposits will be confiscated. The land mafia and sand mafia are now facing difficulties in Bihar," Deputy CM Sinha declared.
When RJD MLA Bhai Virendra interrupted again, Deputy CM Sinha remarked, "These individuals have propagated anarchy in Bihar. I have committed to liberating Bihar from those who thrived during the jungle raj."
He warned, "Very soon, we will uncover those who protect and collaborate with the sand mafia, land mafia, and liquor mafia. We will not just make noise -- we will take action and bulldoze their operations to teach them a lesson."
Amid ongoing protests from the Opposition, Deputy CM Sinha added that those engaged in honest work have nothing to fear.
